7. The Worlds First Train Journey Began In Durham
Ok well not Durham exactly, but close enough... Beginning its journey on 27th September 1825, the worlds first seam powered train (known as 'Locomotion No. 1') travelled an average speed of 6mph from Darlington to Stockton on Tees.
