Built in 1725 by Ralph Wood, Causey Arch is the oldest surviving single arch railway bridge in the world and is located near Stanley, County Durham. When it was built, Causey Arch was also the longest single-span bridge in the country with an arch span of 31 metres, a record which it held for thirty years!
