3. It's Also Home To The Third Oldest University In England
There is some debate as to which University is 'the third oldest University in England'. The contenders are, the University College London, King's College London, Durham University and the University of London. This debate even got mentioned in the Houses of Commons during a speech by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Unlikely to ever be satisfactorily resolved, it would be nice to think that Durham could hold this title.
