6. You Can Queue Posts On Tumblr
It sounds obvious, but you can only tweet when you're using Twitter. Well, of course. Duh? But it does mean that your Twitter profile is spaced out with some tweets in the morning, some on your lunch break, some while you're watching Downton Abbey, and maybe one before you go to bed. If you get up in the middle of the night and go on Twitter, you see people in other countries tweeting, along with the same few insomniacs that you know. But with Tumblr, you can prepare what you're going to say in advance. I have a "song of the day" feature on my blog, but I know that I'm going to my girlfriend's flat this Sunday night, where the wi-fi is dodgy. So I've queued 'Two Weeks' by Grizzly Bear to be my song of that day. If I've just posted on Tumblr, I'll queue my next one for an hour later. I queue things during the night to take advantage of large traffic, and to give myself notes in the morning. And when the Christmas Doctor Who episode aired, I made a gifset of the trailer in advance, and queued it so it would post midway through the episode. It was reblogged 9,000 times, and I had people asking how I'd made it so quickly. Queuing's just a simple trick to use your creativity when it can be most viewed. Seriously Twitter, adopt it.
