10 Grossest Things You Never Knew About Sleeping

2. Your Body Collects Your Pee As You Sleep

Unless you're 4 years old, it's generally frowned upon to pee the bed. Don't worry about it however, because your ever-so-dependable body steps in and holds onto that urine for you in the middle of the night. Why is this? It's down to your kidney functions literally slowing down during sleep.

When you wake up, it's all hands on deck and you'll be rushing for the loo. This is because the body returns to normal after doing you a favour and making sure you don't whizz all over those freshly-washed sheets. The dust mites wouldn't be too happy about that now, would they?

The Urobilin (what makes your pee yellow) collects during the night. That's why your urine is especially colourful each morning. The body hasn't mixed it with water to hydrate it, so it has a little bit of catching up to do.

Right, that's enough about pee.
