10 Harry Potter Characters That Actually Exist In Real Life

4. The Wasp Is Actually A Dementor

"Hey guys, check out this adorable cutie dementor wasp!" SAID NO ONE EVER. That's right people: it's time to lock your doors and cover your windows. You thought the dementors were creations of fiction, made up by JK Rowling to scare children into being well-behaved to avoid the soul sucking monsters as punishment. But it's time to think again. This dementor wasp wasn't even known to exist this time last year, but it was recently discovered in Thailand's Mekong region. The Ampulex dementor, also called 'Soul-Sucking Dementor', was named for the sooty, skeletal, flying dementor character that appears in Rowling's novels and sucks the humanity out of its victims. The real life dementor injects a venom into the mass of neurons on its prey's belly that turns the victim into a passive zombie. Delightful.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
