Pupa was designed to look like her Italian owner in 1928. The owner kept Pupa for all of her life, travelled with her from Italy to the United States and across Europe. The dolls owner told her grandchildren that Pupa was her confidant and best friend. She even claimed that the doll was actually alive and spoke with her. Pupas owner passed away in 2005 and the owners family placed Pupa in a glass box for storage. Apparently enraged about her new housing, witnesses have seen the glass steam up and childish writing appear on it that reads: Pupa hate. She moves around the case and taps the glass when people come near her. One member of the family claims to have caught her movement on video, but conveniently, he was unable to upload the video to YouTube. Pupa stopped the upload.
