Four generations of the same family have owned Joliet; it is passed down from mother to daughter. The family refuses to part wth the doll because it harbours the souls of four different boys who died in the family. The doll was originally gifted to the great grandmother of the current owner, Anna, as a pregnancy present. The person that gave it to her was jealous and that envy transferred to the doll, cursing the family. Annas great grandmother gave birth to a healthy son who mysteriously died three days later. This tragedy would impact four generations. Every woman would birth a son and a daughter, and the son would die within three days. After each boys death, Joliet absorbed the voice of the child. Four individual male infant voices can be heard emanating from it. The doll has been passed down generations and is treated with great care.
