10 Heinous Projects That Remained Hidden In Classified Documents
3. Stargate Project
Stargate Project was the code name of a secret unit of the US Army established in 1978 by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the SRI International and the CIA in Fort Meade, Maryland, with the objective of investigating the potential of psychic phenomena and its corresponding application as a weapon of war.
This plan and its precursors adopted several names over time, among which are “Center Lane”, “Gondola Wish” and “Scanate”, being renamed Stargate Project in 1991.
The project was supervised until 1987 by Lieutenant Frederick Holmes and Major General Albert Stubblebine, who was appointed president of the Monroe Institute in later years.
Despite the impressive findings obtained during the tests, the Stargate Project culminated and was declassified in 1995, after a CIA report concluded that it was never useful in any intelligence operation.
