10 Hidden Details In Walt Disney World You Probably Didn’t Know

9. The Chapeau’s Hidden Antique

When strolling down Main Street, the epicentre of Magic Kingdom, there is a little hat shop tucked away in the corner of Town Square. The Chapeau shop has a whole range of Disney branded hats, caps and the inevitable Micky and Minnie ears. While you can have these hats customised with your name, this is not what is interesting about this little shop.

Right at the back of the shop there is an old-timey hand-crank antique telephone. While this is pretty neat in itself, it’s clearly not there to make genuine calls. Many people miss this classic telephone, but what’s more, visitors never seem to think that phone is anything more that purely aesthetical.

If you wonder over to the pay phone and lift the receiver, you can eavesdrop on a secret telephone call. The call is between a mother and daughter arguing over the price of groceries and is said to be pretty comical. Cast members working in the hat shop love when visitors pick the phone up, just to see the reaction on their innocent, unassuming faces - classic Disney.
