5. What To Do About Figment?

This is less of a prediction and more a question to the Universe.

One of the most common rumours circulating is that Inside Out will be replacing Journey Into Imagination with Figment. I think this story has been around too long for it to be true. At this moment in time, there is no confirmation that an Inside Out 2 being in production and with 3 years past since the movie came out, it might just be too long since the movie was at the front of people's minds.

As great as I think Inside Out would fit into Journey with Imagination, my feeling is that Disney is moving away from the Edu-tainment aspect of Epcot. I also don't think that Disney are in any hurry to get rid of Figment. He's basically the unofficial mascot for the park, with the little purple dragon appearing on merchandise for many of the park's festivals.

I'm not a fan of Journey Into Imagination and having never experienced the original (and beloved by many) version with Dreamfinder, I don't have any emotional attachment to the ride. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that the ride has come to the end of its shelf life and needs something new.

The ride is in a prime location within Epcot and given the large ride system means it could house a decent size attraction For many, they would love to see the original return. Personally, I would love something new, Inside out or other wise. Perhaps it would be great to see a ride that encompasses some of the visual tricks this ride pulls but in a more up to date way. Although I'm not a fan of Figment himself (I know that's a bit blasphemous in the WDW community) I could understand the desire to not throw him away and give him a new lease of life in some other capacity.

I think in the next few years we can expect to see some major changes to Future World, so I will imagine we'll get an answer to this question eventually.
