Another altogether creepy personality with evil intent was Hitler's leader of the SS, Heinrich Himmler. The small man with pretentious glasses, strutting around in his black uniform, and barking orders in a Mickey Mouse voice would have been laughable except he was the Third Reich's designated knight of death. Like Hitler, Himmler was also obsessed with the darker side of the Occult. He acquired the castle Wewelsburg for his cult of SS researchers to study arcane topics and perform bizarre experiments. When Hitler captured the Spear of Destiny, Himmler begged him to bring it to the castle where it could be studied under the careful watch of the SS's highest ranking members; a request Hitler thought was a little stupid. Another creepy factoid regarding Himmler is his darkest obsession may have been reserved for the fuhrer himself. Before he even met his beloved Hitler, coworkers caught him speaking to a picture of Adolf in his office when he thought no one was listening. Sometimes he would carry on for hours as if the other man were right beside him. Himmler even had the state fund several archeological expeditions to go out into the world and attempt to recover religious artifacts he believed would most benefit the Nazi cause.
