10 Insane And Bizarre Theories About Stephen King
9. His Wife, Tabitha, Has Written The Majority Of His Work
The Kings met when they both attended college at The University of Maine. They married in January 1971, had three children and while life was a struggle to begin with, they did both go on to become successful authors.
Carrie, the debut novel that changed everything, was written in these cramped conditions. King had produced the first three pages, then in frustration crumpled them up and threw them in the bin, but Tabby later got the pages back out the bin and talked him through how to develop a female character and what the world was like for a woman. Carrie, as she is now known today, was born in those exchanges.
It is also common knowledge amongst fans that Tabby had decided on the title for Salems Lot: the original title was to be Second Coming but she had warned her husband it sounded like a bad sex story.
The theory is deeper than his wife just 'giving advice' as many believe that throughout their marriage Tabitha, a successful novelist in her own right, has penned more Stephen King novels than everyone has been lead to believe.
King has said he would never co-author a book with his wife, he believes if they ever did work together it would lead to divorce.
