After the horrific events of the Boston Bombing users sought to help authorities by tracking down the perpetrators. Due to the nature of the Boston bombing there were plenty of images on social media, and users were quick to identify suspicious looking people most of which tended to be innocent people amongst the carnage and wreckage. Users felt like Hank in Breaking Bad - constantly looking for a target, but never quite being right. We live in a brave new world where almost anyone can provide key information for an investigation. Authorities ploughed through all these images to find the heinous people responsible for the crime, but Reddit users were among the online leaders who sought to narrow down the images by highlighting the ones that looked slightly dodgy. Reddit was not important in finding the true criminals the authorities did a good enough job of that but the fact that the community came together so quickly to try to help shows how Reddit is more than just a gateway to the internet; it is a community of people who generally have good intentions.
