For those of you who don't speak Joker, to "never rub another man's rhubarb" essentially means that a guy should not be trying to get with or date a woman who is already involved with another man. It's simple guy code. There are scores of women out there single, available and waiting for a guy just like you to walk into their lives. But they either escape your notice or you always find yourself being drawn to the wrong ones the married/non-single kind. If youre the kind of guy who likes to live life a little dangerously, theres probably an element of the slyness that adds exhilaration with a woman who's already taken. Meeting on the down-low, trying to escape being noticed, coordinating secret meetings, lends a certain charm to the affair. However, just as Adam regretted taking a bite out of the apple when Eve tempted him, a married woman is just that - forbidden fruit. Michael Keaton's Batman learned this lesson first hand when he began dating Vicki Vale much to the dismay of Jack Nicholson's Joker. And while the Joker and Vicki weren't technically dating (though, in his head they probably were) the message is still loud and clear.
