10 Mobile Phone Features People Never Really Needed

2. 16GB Memory

First generation Apple iPhone launched in 2007 and at that time was the only phone with the (then) truly impressive 16 gigabytes of built-in memory. While this internal storage size was a big deal 9 years ago, it doesn€™t meet the requirements of smartphones in 2015. Surprisingly, 8 years later major manufacturers continue to offer 16GB options for all flagship devices. Not to mention some mobile phones are still offered with as little as 8 gigabytes of internal storage (viz Motorola's Moto G), thus heavily relying on cloud storage services for user photos and videos. While many other Android-based phone models do offer memory expansion via SD card slots, Windows and Apple phones seem to ignore the existence of memory cards at all. Memory options are admittedly an important part of Apple€™s iPhone pricing strategy. The 32GB iPhone 6 option is missing from the current iPhone line-up, so customers are left with the choice between the 16GB or 64GB option. The problem with the former is iPhone 6's 16GB internal storage is just ridiculously small for modern standards and not worth the hefty price tag ($649 for the 16GB model against just $749 for the 64GB model). Such capacity can barely hold the amount of data they are designed to handle. A 16GB version of iPhone 6S barely allows to shoot a 10-12 minute 4K video.
