Quick, pass the shark-repellent Bat spray!

A true nightmare scenario come to life, this unfortunate military man is about to be eaten by a killer Great White shark as he clings to his helicopter's ladder for dear life. Of course, it's a photoshop effort, and this is actually 2 different images combined.

Emails in 2001 cited the photograph as the "National Geographic Photo Of The Year", but the magazine later rubbished that claim and revealed the pic to be a hoax. US Air Force man Lance Cheung wasn't being attacked by a shark at all. He was instead on a routine mission by San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

The shark photo was taken by South African snapper Charles Maxwell in False Bay. When put together, the pair look a lot like a scene from the 1966 Batman movie with Adam West.
