When staying at the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel in Banff, Alberta, the first two things you'll notice are the incredible view of the Canadian Rockies, and that it's a castle built over 125 years ago. The third thing you might notice is that some famous ghosts call the hotel home.

One of the most well known ghosts is a bride that fell down the spiral staircase in the lobby to her death after her dress caught fire on a candelabra. The bride is even featured on her own Canadian stamp, and hotel guests and employees report seeing her on the stairs or in the ballroom.

Joining the bride is the ghost of Sam McAuley, a bellman that died back in 1976 but never left. Guests have claimed that Sam the bellman has helped them with their bags and check-in, only to be told by employees that Sam has been dead for decades.

But perhaps the scariest story of the Banff Springs is that of Room 873 where it's reported that an entire family was murdered. Along with guests claiming to see a transparent family wandering around outside the room is the fact that the hotel has actually closed Room 873 and plastered over the door, making it appear as if the room never existed. When you walk down the hall of the eighth floor to where 873 should be, all you'll find is a large expanse of wallpaper and a small sign stuck to it that tells guests not to knock on the wall. Why? The hotel doesn't say.
