10 Most Haunted Places In Scotland

9. Stirling Castle

Stirling Castle has a reputation for housing a variety of ghosts, but the most feared is that of The Green Lady. It is said that if she is smiling then the world will remain as it is, but if she is crying or anxious, imminent doom will find you. Although her name has been lost over time, she is recognised from the colour that she wore when she was alive as even ghosts need signature colours. She is said to have been the daughter of a Commander who refused to let her be happy with the boy that she loved because he was considered inferior to her. She fell in love with a soldier who her father had shot because, good parenting. After discovering that her love was dead, she killed herself by jumping off the tallest tower from the castle. When she is seen smiling, she is remembering the love of her life who still makes her happy even in death. But when she is crying, she is remembering the pain that her father put her through, and she's looking for revenge. However, she is also thought to have been the maidservant for Mary Queen of Scots who saved the Queen from a fire during the night and died from her injuries. Either way, she died tragically and well before her time.
