Known in some circles as the Duisburg Man-Eater - despite the fact that he killed more women and girls than he did men - Joachim Kroll is a horrendous mix of killer, rapist, child molester and cannibal.

Worse yet, he was also devastatingly cunning as he rarely killed in the same place twice and moved around often enough that investigators were unable to track him. This allowed him to kill and consume for almost 20 years before he was finally caught following the murder of 4-year old Marion Ketter.

Even then, his capture was hastened by his off-handedly claiming that "guts" were the reason that the drains in his apartment building were clogged up when speaking to a fellow tenant, which was more than enough reason for getting the police involved.

What they found was the remains of young Marion Ketter, whose hand was boiling in a pot of water while other parts of her body had been placed in the refrigerator.

Kroll was arrested and admitted to the murder of 13 people ranging from the ages of 4 and 61, claiming that he cut off parts of them to eat because he wanted to save on his grocery bill. He was given a life sentence and died in prison in 1991.
