It's one of those widely-reported facts that humanity have become to good at antibiotics. At this point we've developed immunities to almost every identifiable disease they're even making major headways on HIV and AIDs which is not actually cause for celebration. Because it means those diseases are now involving to beat the antibiotics. In that case, it'll be a mad dash for researchers to figure out a totally new cure for those super-evolved killer diseases that have figured a way around our medicine. And that sort of research isn't often quick. Then there are those that are already difficult to treat imagine if the recent Ebola outbreak happened on a global scale. A combination incurable, highly contagious and lethal disease could prove to be our downfall, especially when we're always travelling to other countries to spread things. If such a pandemic occurred, it would be akin to the Black Plague, only about a hundred times worse. And you know how many people survived the plague, right?
