1. Whatever The Hell This Witchcraft Is

Okay, so it's not a complete robot, but this disembodied animatronic face is still pretty remarkable.

One of the major problems we face with humanoid robots is that, the more life-like we try to make them, the further they tend to slip into the uncanny valley. The uncanny valley is the point at which something becomes very close to being life-like, but not quite, so our brain just registers that something is slightly off and creepy.

It's very easy to slip into the uncanny valley these days, but it's much harder to come out the other side. The face in the video above, however, is pretty much managing to do just that.

It might be a little unnerving, but it's nowhere near as creepy as it should be. It is so lifelike that it has lost some of the "creepy factor" because your brain is simply registering it as a normal human face.

It obviously takes a fair amount of artistry to create something like this, but perhaps we might just get our super-realistic Robo Sapiens after all.
