1. Camel Up

Another racing game, except you're not racing yourself, you're betting on the result. And the cars are camels.

The dice is rolled by an impartial third party, a pyramid in the centre of the board; you move the camel that matches the dice colour the number of spaces shown and players have to bet on the racing camels by taking the appropriate betting tiles.

A harsh commentary on gambling, the overall winner is decided by who has made the most money from the camel races.

Players have the chance of manipulating the race with the mirage or oasis abilities either speeding up or slowing down a camel, but as these stay on the board your trap may eventually end up biting you in the ass.

A lot of modern board games are criticised for their random elements, but Camel Up commits to the randomness and bases the game entirely on the fact that it is just like any other race and the winner is the one who used their money the wisest.

Unlike a real camel race the quadrupeds can stack on to each other, with the camel on top being considered the winner, adding to the chaotic nature of the race. For added fun you can always use real money.

Like, for example, did you know What Culture has not only a board game but the What Culture board game has an expansion?

So not only can you play a battle of wits with your friends in a variety of pop-culture subjects, you can win a game by knowing wrestling! And ask yourself what other game has ever allowed you to win with your knowledge of pro-wrestling?
