10 Niggling Harry Potter Questions JK Rowling Must Answer

9. Why Can't Harry See The Thestrals?

In The Order Of The Phoenix, Harry sees that the magical carriages taking students from the Hogwarts Express up to Hogwarts upon arrival are actually lead by horsey-type animals called Thestrals. As Luna explains to Harry after he's left feeling confuddled because Ron and Herminone can't see them, one can only actually see the Thestrals if that person has seen someone die. While this scene is put in place mainly to prove how devastated and affected Harry is by Cedric Digory's death, there is no reason at all why Harry wouldn't have been able to see them before - because he saw his mother die when he was tiny, and everyone knows that.

I love Stephen King and music festivals; I eat my toast upside down; I daydream about getting married probably a bit too much; and I wish every day for a pet sausage dog puppy (who never materialises – sob).
