10 Old Wives' Tales You Shouldn't Believe

2. Shaving Makes Hair Grow Back Thicker

Another myth people tend to believe is the one that scares women most. If you shave a certain part of your body, the hair will grow back coarser, thicker and darker. If this were true, aren€™t most bald men €“ who shave their heads on a regular basis €“ supposed to have heads full of long, dark hair? So if you think about it that way, you realise just how absurd this myth is. Small follicles that lie just below the surface of your skin are the ones responsible for the thickness, colour and consistency of your hair and no amount of shaving will change the way they€™re meant to function. A study published in Scientific American states that there is no proof linking shaving to coarse or thick hair either.
