This myth is probably the oldest in the book. You drop food onto the floor, you shout Five second rule! then you pick it up and eat it. Dont deny it youve probably done it at least once in your life. How accurate is the Five-second rule, though? Some people genuinely believe that if you pick up your crisp/sandwich/corndog in time, it wont be contaminated. They couldnt be more wrong. You might think that your food is safe to eat, but your food might have landed on some really nasty bacteria. Not so bad, you say? It could be. Imagine contracting salmonella or hepatitis from a chip you just couldnt leave lying on the ground. Now ask yourself, is it really worth the risk?
