From the day the park opened in 1990, park goers were encouraged to stay out of the water as something terrifying was waiting for them.

Based on the Steven Speilberg movie franchise, the Jaws Ride would see guests board shabby looking vessels to take a boat ride across Amity, but suddenly things go wrong. A huge great white shark makes an appearance trying to attack the boat. As guests try to escape, the harbour around them sets alight. The ride would finish with the giant shark biting down on an electrical cable causing him to fry.

The original ride got off to a difficult start as the first sharks needed to be rebuilt due to their unreliability. Despite a difficult start in life, the Jaws attraction and Bruce the shark became a huge fan favourite.

Despite its popularity with Universal fans, Jaws sailed off into the sunset in January 2012 to make way for the latest Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Diagaon Alley.

You can still see tributes to the closed attraction in Diagon Alley, with a set of shark jaws in the Apothecary shop as well as hearing the shrunken heads sing Show Me the Way to go Home which Quint sings in the original movie.
