3. Back To The Future: The Ride

Opening in 1991, guests of Universal Studios Florida could volunteer to go back in time and stop Biff from changing the course of history in a ride based on Back To The Future.

Now Dr Emmett "Doc" Brown has become the founder for the Institute of Future Technology, a place dedicated to the science of the future. Doc has created a new 8 seater DeLorean and guests of Universal Studios Florida are set to be his first guests.

Things take a turn for the worst when Biff, who has stowed away from the year 1955 during testing of the new machine, steals the original DeLorean after locking Doc in his lab. With Doc being unable to leave his lab to help, guests must board the DeLorean and be his eyes as he pilots the car from the lab.

After accelerating up to 88 miles per hour, you would follow Biff into the Hill Valley of the future, well 2015. The chase then continues into the ice age and then into the primeval world where Biff gets into a bit of trouble with a T Rex.

The last trip into the past aboard a DeLorean took place in 2007 when the ride shut to make way for The Simpsons.

There are still some references to the former ride at Universal Studios. In The Simpsons attraction queue there is a video featuring both Doc and his Institute of Future Technology. You can also still get your photo taken with a DeLorean and Dr Brown's time travelling train close to Springfield.
