10 Problems Only People From Crook Will Understand

9. The Closing Of The Co-Op

https://twitter.com/robsonnnx/status/360743870117593088?lang=en-gb November 2014 was a dark day: after 15 years of providing fresh, locally sourced, and good value food to the community, the Co-op supermarket shut its doors. With its approachable and helpful staff, it was a convenience which afforded many the ability of frequent visits to stock up on everyday essentials. Ok, so perhaps the only accurate part of that summary is 'convenience' and at a push 'fresh food'. But what is entirely accurate, is the fact that since the 'supermarket' closed, there is really nowhere else to go within the town for anyone wanting anything more than milk eggs and flour. For commuters this may not be a massive deal, as there are shops everywhere else, but for those who never venture out of the confines the immediate area, it does limit choice somewhat from anything other than glorified corner shops. Excitingly, though, there's going to be a Lidl on the same site, but with continuing movement of the goal posts in regards to building commencement, let alone an opening date, people will have to make do for the time being.
