10 Problems Only People From Crook Will Understand

8. The Great Mystery Of Thirkell's Video Shop

Physical media is dying, we know this. Sales of DVDs and Blu-rays are declining year on year as more people are opting for online streaming services. Not only this but the price of DVDs especially have plummeted over the last 5 years. So much so that they are often seen as a disposable purchase, bought on the spur of the moment and disregarded after watching just as quick. This trend has seen off many recognisable high street rental establishments; Blockbusters and Global Videos, to name but two. There is one shop though which continues to tread water in this antiquated industry - Thirkell's (aka Ronnie's). Surely the place must be great to have survived this long? The answer a resounding NO! If you like walking around an overcrowded and dusty shop, that has so many DVDs piled up on the floor to take each step is to do so with intricate care, then this is the place for you. Similarly , if you want to unearth movies that have long been resigned in to the depths of history then fill your boots. How it keeps going is one of life's great mysteries. Saying that, it'll be a sad day on Hope Street when this mainstay disappears.
