8. Black And Gold Is A Universal Fashion Statement

Pittsburgh is the only city in the United States whose professional sports teams all wear the same colors. Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, all black and gold. There is no pro basketball team in the 'Burgh, but if there were, it is guaranteed they would sport black and yellow shorts. The Penguins utilize a color called Las Vegas Gold, while the Steelers and Pirates stick with a more traditional yellow. To die-hards though, it's all black and gold. New Yorkers have options. Most of them include blue, but they are options nonetheless. Bostonians? They have black and gold too... but also red, white and blue. If you're Pittsburgh, you're black and gold. There is a nearly legal precedent that students in Western Pennsylvania wear black and gold on game day, regardless of the sport. To do otherwise risks social alienation, accusations of disloyalty, or worst of all, being labeled as a jag off.
