10 Problems Only People From Sydney Will Understand

4. Everything Is Expensive

Sydney is consistently ranked in the top 10 of most expensive cities to live in. Literally everything you do will be overly expensive and you'll be lucky to stretch out each pay cheque. Everyday things in Sydney are pricy enough to make your head spin.

Despite having a public transportation system that would make the Japanese hang their heads in shame, people pay more for public transportation in Australia than anywhere else in the world. The amount you pay for coffee is not worth the early morning buzz you get, cigarettes in Sydney are exorbitantly overpriced, retail stores are even more ridiculously overpriced, alcohol is unfairly expensive (though not much of a deterrence), and buying food anywhere will blow a hole in your wallet whether it be McDonalds burger or a steak dinner.

But as time passes, every Sydneysider will eventually accept the fact that $30 t-shirts and $7 juices are more or less par for the course in Sydney.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
