Talking of tiny things that can ruin your day, youve probably experienced the horror of wheelbite. Your deck touches your wheel, stopping all momentum you have. Unfortunately, this is most likely to happen when you have just leapt down some rather large drop, or have picked up a lot of speed on a ramp. Youll probably try everything to avoid it; waxing the part of the deck that touches the wheel, putting risers on or simply using smaller wheels. One of these will work, but it will often put you off balance. Being even a few millimetres higher off the floor, or having a slightly smaller wheel, can throw you completely off your game, and you realise that this may have to be a necessary evil, a risk that you will have to take in order to keep skating at your best. Unlike small stones, this problem isnt likely to impact you in public, but it will infuriate you as you edge, ever closer, to landing an elusive trick. Eventually you will land with both feet on the board, and you will experience an unparalleled state of euphoria before you are thrown forwards and are forced to try whatever trick it was all over again.
