Headless squirrels, half eaten pigeons, flattened frogs all of these have been brought in to houses by cats, and owners are divided as to what this means. Does it mean that the cat was saving some of its spoils for later? Does it mean they were bringing their owner a strange gift? Does it mean that the cat thinks the owner cannot fend for themselves? The cats don't look like talking anytime soon, so the only outcome of these presents is a dead animal being dragged into the owners house. Dead bodies are disgusting, regardless of whether they were cute rabbits or ugly toads when they were alive people dont want these dead things in their houses. Cats drag these cadavers in and then proudly present them to the owner who will probably be slightly flattered that their cat had the latent hunting ability to capture this now decomposing or partially eaten body, as well as being slightly sickened by the sudden realisation that they need to dispose of it now that it has been bought in to their humble abode. For some reason non-cat lovers are seen as strange for not understanding why having a creature that does this is cute or desirable it seems like they take a lot of work for very little in terms of emotional return.
