You dont have to be a hygiene fanatic to find the lack of boundaries by cats concerning. They walk over everything, and they help themselves to whatever they like. They steal food being cooked or they try to pry their way into the unopened packaging of food, especially if there is packaged fish somewhere in your shopping bag. This isnt judgemental towards the owners, they are powerless against their animals desires, but only non-cat lovers look at this creature wandering freely on surfaces where food will be prepared and thinks that it doesnt look right. It seems as though an animal which could have trodden in all manner of unpleasant things while exploring the neighbourhood is permitted to do whatever it wants within the house. They could easily bring in some unpleasant, indigestible contaminant into the kitchen, and they seem impossible to train to keep away from the surfaces; this lack of boundaries and control makes them a downright hazardous pet to keep.
