10 Really Horrible Things Done By Great People

9. Bill Ayers Was A Terrorist

Describing Bill Ayers as great might be a bit of a stretch. However, the polarized debates, which spark at the mere mentioning of his name are worth mentioning. Americans either: see him as an outstanding voice in political activism or hate his guts. With Bill, there is no middle ground. Although he has been in the public eye since the 60s for his political activism against the Vietnam War, at present, Ayers can be impartially labelled as an education reformer. An esteemed professor of the University of Chicago where he retired, Ayers has written many books about education. His work in philanthropy earned him Chicago's Citizen of the Year award, which was presented to him by the mayor. However... Ayers political activism against the war was anything, but peaceful. Instead of throwing flowers his group, The Weather Underground, threw incendiary devices into government buildings. The Weathermen were responsible for inciting brutal riots that hurt several innocent people. At the center of it all was Ayers' fanatic dedication for leading America into Stalin-esque Communism. He was even documented by an undercover FBI informant to say that after the revolution any Americans who would not submit to the new government would need to be eliminated in concentration camps. When asked about his past, Ayers says he has no regrets.
