You may like The Rolling Stones, but there's no denying The Beatles are still the most popular music group in the world. No matter where you travel simply start humming a Beatles tune and you'll make friends in no time. That's in spite of them breaking up nearly forty-five years ago. Although the immense talent which propelled the group's success cannot be attributed to any one of the band's members exclusively, no one can ignore the influence John Lennon had on their music. Lennon's musical genius, coupled with McCartney's, would lead to several of their most popular songs. Lennon continued to be a landmark figure in both the music world and political activism until his tragic death in 1980 when he was gunned down in New York. Except.... Off stage, Lennon was often an absolute jerk. He had a habit for physical abuse, which would plague most of his romantic relationships. After his marriage to Yoko, Lennon practically hardly ever saw his first son and became a poster figure for the worst father of the year. In the end, musical genius notwithstanding, John was the primary reason The Beatles broke up. One can only guess that if he had lived would he still be popular or just some wash up who gets eighty-sixed from the Rainbow Grill on Friday nights with Harry Nilsson.
