10 Reasons It's Way Better To Be A Dog Dad

This Father's Day, just be thankful that your only children have four legs.

One day out of the year, fathers across the globe are singled out for their ability to tolerate the children they helped bring into the world. It's not as widely appreciated as Mother's Day, but it's still nice that dads get their due in some small way. Because dads put in a lot of work raising children, too. A lot of work. Sometimes so much that it leaves them wondering why they didn't just buy a dog and be done with it.

Speaking of which, there is another paternal group who receives even less yearly acclaim than the traditional dad: the dog dad. And with good reason, too. Puppy parents require less fanfare because, honestly, their jobs are much less difficult than that of a regular dad. Really, there's an embarrassingly low amount of effort that goes into owning a pooch. Which is why it's so awesome.

Human children can be okay, but there's nothing better than being the proud father of a big furball. Dogs, after all, are man's best friend, whereas sometimes it can feel like children were put on this earth specifically to torment adult males.

There are obviously pros and cons to both types of kids (furry or otherwise), but some perks of owning a pooch are just too rad to leave unmentioned.

10. Putting Human Children On Leashes Is Frowned Upon By Society

This is not a recommended way to make friends when you move into a new neighborhood. People have a tendency to get pretty uppity when they see a child attached to a leash. Which is a real shame, because it makes them so much easier to control. The closest thing to a leash society has accepted are those backpacks shaped like animals with the little tails sticking out of them that parents can hold onto.

It's pretty much a leash, but it's also a backpack, so I guess that makes it okay. But move it from their shoulders to their fragile little necks and all of a sudden everyone's a critic.

Dogs are actually required to be on leashes in certain areas, and although watching the little bundle of energy run free is a wonderful sight, sometimes it's nice to have the control to chill them out.
