The first thing a writer needs is an idea and, as any writer will tell you, great ideas can be surprisingly hard to come by, so they'll always be searching for inspiration. This generally doesn't come from sitting at home staring at a blank screen, so they're always willing to try something new if there's a possibility that it could inspire them. This doesn't mean that every writer wants to try skydiving or swimming with sharks, but there's a good chance that you'll find something fun to try together and end up bonding over the experience. If you and your ex only ever went to your local Italian restaurant, maybe a writer would take you to try that new all-you-can-eat Thai buffet across town, or they'll surprise you with a day of skydiving. But, again, it probably won't be skydiving. Regardless of what it is, this shared experience will give you a chance to let your guard down and really hit it off, whilst also giving you something new to talk about when you inevitably find yourself back at that Italian.
