You know those annoying couples who think they know everything about relationships because they're happy? Well it turns out they were right about one thing - for a relationship to work, communication is key. Writers have spent their whole careers figuring out the best ways to communicate ideas to their readers, but this doesn't stop when they shut down their laptop. A writer will always be able to get across what they want to say, so you won't ever have to guess what they "really mean". Even better than just being able to communicate is a writer's ability to get you out of things. Remember that party you really wanted to go to at first, but then you couldn't be bothered to get dressed and interrupt that Netflix marathon? You can be sure that a writer will find a convincing way to excuse you both and curl up with you in front of some guilt-free House Of Cards.
