A medieval castle, Eltz Castle towers over the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is surrounded on three sides by the Elzbach River, which is actually a tributary of the Moselle, and posted atop a 70-metre rock. It has remained in the possession of the same family and was never destroyed. It is technically a Ganerbenburg, or a castle belonging to a community of heirs. The castle is divided into different sections that belong to multiple branches of the same family. There are eight towers reaching 30 to 40 metres, the walls are heavily fortified to the exterior and every room of the Kempenich houses can be heated. Reportedly, the ghost of Agnes Eltz is supposed to haunt the hallways of the castle. Agnes, being promised to Knight Braunsberg at a very young age took an immediate disliking to the man. One night, at a gala, he tried to force his affection on her and she pimp-slapped him in front of all of the nobility. Obviously, that marriage was doomed. So, Knight Braunsberg waited until the men left the castle months later on a hunting trip and carried out a siege. Not one to submit, Agnes donned armour and defended the castle only to be killed in battle. Caretakers insist that they hear giggling in the castle, doors open and close on their own and items get mysteriously moved. There are also claims that a knight on horseback patrols the outskirts of the castle. Is it Knight Braunsberg come to apologize or to get his revenge by taking the castle?
