10 Secret Disneyland Areas You Probably Didn’t Know About
1. The Little Man Of Disneyland
The Little Man of Disneyland is a 1955 Disney-tale told through the eyes of Micky, Donald and Goofy as they started to transform the Anaheim orange groves into Walt’s vision. Eventually they stumbled across a tiny leprechaun called Patrick Beggora living in the tree root of one of the orange trees. Patrick did not want to move and dug his heals in.
Micky and his friends took Patrick to the studio, showed him the plans and the development of what would become ‘the happiest place on earth’. Eventually Patrick agreed to allow the development to continue. Mickey had offered little Patrick Cinderella’s castle to live in, but patrick just wanted to keep his teeny tiny home somewhere within the park grounds in solitary seclusion.
Clearly the story was a twist on a hitch in the real development process, with difficult negotiations in place over the conversion of the orangeries when the park was first developed.
The fascinating aspect of this story is the sheer attention to detail that Disney throws into its parks - Little Patrick’s house can be found tucked away in a planter near the Indian Jones ride. The tiny house comes complete with a door, a window and even a tiny little door matt. Many visitors will have never even noticed little Paddy’s home before.
