10 Secret Disneyland Areas You Probably Didn’t Know About
2. The Mark Twain Captain’s Cabin
You can’t miss Mark Twain’s river boat sitting on the water in Frontierland, standing 4 decks tall and over a hundred feet long. The boat takes 12 minute rides in slow and steady grace - it’s not really a trill a minute.
However, there is something special about this boat. If you approach the main cast member on duty and ask them to see ‘the wheelhouse’ you might just be lucky enough to be taken into the boats secret area. This is entirely at the discretion of the cast member and is by no way and means a guarantee to get you escorted towards the ‘private’ door.
Upon knocking on the ‘private’ door, you will be greeted by the captain, who will take you to the off-limits captain’s cabin where the ship is guided - think circa Steamboat Willy. If you were lucky enough to be chosen get into the hidden room, the captain will step aside and let you steer the boat, ring Mark Twain’s bell and sound the whistle to the entire park.
Getting into the captain’s cabin for this ride sure makes it more memorable than the standard 12 minute float.
