10 Secret Disneyland Areas You Probably Didn’t Know About
3. Walt’s Bench
The legend goes that the concept behind Disneyland first came to Walt as he sat on a park bench, watching his daughters enjoy a carousel. In that moment Walt had the idea of a park where adults could have as much fun as the children to bring families together - this was the very beginning of his vision.
In honour of this little snippet into Walt’s mind, there is a little-know bench in the Main Street Opera House. To the untrained eye, it is just a park bench for people to sit and relax on, however, this is no ordinary bench.
If you look at the plaque on the bench, it reads; “The actual park bench from the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round in Los Angeles, where Walt Disney first dreamed of Disneyland". Yes, that’s right, it is no ordinary bench at all.
While technically this is not a secret area for the uninitiated, only a select few give the bench the credit it deserves, and with people in the know, legend has it that sitting on this bench will invite you to view the park from a completely different perspective. That is the very definition of a secret area hiding-in-plain-sight.
