According to Dale Mason, after bringing Kala and Tai Nui back together, Krakatau learnt from his past mistakes. The God decided to trap all of his rage and anger into the island's volcano.

This spirit can be found within the volcano and is called Vol. Whilst you are in the park you can chat with Vol, all you have to do is to venture deep within the caverns of the Volcano. Vol is friendly but mischievous, so be warned when you go and see him, you might get splashed. Sometimes he will tell you the story of the Waturi people, other times he might have a conversation with you. When I went to see him he said he wanted to smile for my photo. He also sprays unsuspecting people as they pass by.
