If you were asked to compile a list of the most famous scientists of all time, Albert Einstein would be one of the first names you wrote down, and with good reason. This German scientist was easily the most influential physicist of the twentieth century.

As a child, Einstein wasn’t a universal genius. Whilst he excelled at maths and physics, he didn’t show much talent in other areas, including other sciences like chemistry and biology. Thankfully, this didn’t stop him getting into the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich.

Then, in 1905, Einstein published several papers that would cement his place in history. Though other scientists had discussed parts of special relativity, Einstein was the first person to make a cohesive theory of relativity.

He continued his research in the wake of these revolutionary papers, focusing on quantum mechanics, gravity, and motion. His ideas garnered acclaim from scientific communities across the globe. He was even awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921.
