4. Captcha Codes
One of the signal most pointless and annoying things on the internet is the Captcha code. A captcha code is a picture of a random collection of numbers and letters which must be entered correctly to allow you to move to the next page on a website. They are designed to be 'unbreakable' by computer programs, yet software has been developed which is exclusively designed to break them without the need for human input. The main problem with the codes is they are more often than not completely illegible. This means that it is almost pointless, and rather annoying if you are having to type in new codes over and over again just to register to a webpage or for a new email address. Captcha Codes should ideally be replaced by an email confirmation link or a message sent to your phone. This makes it harder for a 'bot' to repeatedly spam a website to create multiple accounts. Captcha codes will most likely stay as companies are lazy and want to use the cheapest and easiest way possible to access consumers. Sadly these annoying things are here to stay for the foreseeable future.
