2. Voice Recognition/Voice Control
Ever tried to call someone using voice control? Has it ever worked? Most likely the answer will be no. Most of us have used one of these in a car showroom or seen a friend use it in their own vehicle before or on a phone, and they are quite frankly utterly useless. You could for instance ask the system to call your friend David, and it instead tries to play a CD from the centre console. How come the systems are so poor, that they simply can't recognise a straightforward instructions. Some of the latest Samsung TV's have voice control functionality - but it only works if you can speak in an American accent. Not everyone is American, so Samsung should really work on that. Voice recognition methods of controlling devices have made the simple tasks of ringing your friends or controlling electronics significantly harder than simply getting up and walking over to pick up the remote. Voice control needs to improve drastically. Times need to change from attempting to call your friend instead ending up on the phone with your local takeaway. Understandably the software has come a long way from not even trying to recognise your voice and repeating the infamous line "I Didn't Catch That", to where it is today. With the technological advances in the past few years, how come voice control has been left slightly behind?
