Mikarah Sanders was killed by her boyfriend, Matthew Dubois, on the 31st of December, 2010. Sanders had received her message on her MySpace profile page from another boy, shortly before the murder took place. Jealous from the attention that Sanders was receiving, Dubois fatally shot his girlfriend on New Year's Eve. Dubois had a history of crime before the murder, including a residential burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm. 16-year-old Dubois was controversially sentenced to 14 years in prison for his crime.
