In possibly the most bizarre case listed here, Natalia Burgess 'killed' several girls online. The twist is that the murders took place only within Burgess' imagination, as the girls weren't real people, constructed only by Burgess' mind and a selection of stolen photos of young, attractive women. Burgess would entice male teens into online relationships over Facebook, with many of the victims claiming to have been in love with Burgess' creations. Once she got bored, she'd kill off the fake women, sending word to the online boyfriends through (equally fake) relatives. Her emotionally damaging spree only ended after one of the real girls noticed her photos being used in an online memorial. Burgess was sentenced to two years and two months in prison.
